Diamond Storage

I’ve been impressed with diamond storage. I feel they have competitive rates overall and the introductory offer combined with the convenience of the location for me got me in the door. Since then it’s been a very positive professional experience. Clean units, easy and quick communication with management, I have recommended them personally to a friend who also said it was just as smooth for them, and would recommend them again. Signing up was very quick and easy online, which is nice around a crazy schedule and I don’t feel restricted to access my unit during any particular time. "Security" gate is open 24/7 and is never closed (even at night) which means anyone can drive in to the facility anytime. There is no one on site and no cameras either. We have observed various work vehicles parked in front of units without anyone around - gate open of course. Poorest storage security ever - take note. Other idiotic cons: The rental agreement states you cannot store more than $5,000 worth in a unit, plus the renter must carry full fire, theft insurance policy for their unit and goods stored. Cherry on top is that according to the rental agreement, these bozos can enter your unit anytime they feel like it (and you are not supposed to use your own lock otherwise they may cut it off and charge you as they see fit). Yeah, a lot more choice items in the agreement too... read it before you rent here. The site has changed ownership twice in the last two years. Current owners have jacked the rates up to almost double from what it was just 2 years ago. "Competitive" rates? Not really when you factor in the extremely poor site security. Since the current owner (Wilmington, NC) paid over $1M for the site, you can expect this small facility to be bulldozed soon as the paltry total rental income yields a very low return rate on that investment.

Originally written 2 years prior to my update: This is a great storage place and I'm sure it's one of the lowest priced storage units in the area. Trust me on that one because I've called all over the place and my stuff is safely stored here! There is a gate that is open during the day and after 5pm you can get in with a key code but you also better have the exit key code or you won't get back out if you came in before 5 and are leaving after 5pm. Also, the owners are a man & wife team and so very nice! Always was a pleasure to see them as they made me feel like I was always in the right ballpark. BTW- If the owner tells you that you're doing something that's against the rules, my advice is to not do that again because he means business and he will evict you! Its good that the owners stop in regularly to check on the place. I always felt my belongings were safe there.
