This place needs to be shut down or reviewed by the Better Business Bureau.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report an absolutely unacceptable and distressing experience at Extra Space Storage, 2401 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603. I rented a storage unit at this location beginning in September 2020 during an extremely vulnerable time in my life. I had recently given birth, and my father was suffering from kidney failure and undergoing dialysis. Because of these circumstances, I relied on Extra Space Storage to safeguard my personal belongings. Over the course of nearly five years, I endured ongoing miscommunication, poor management, and repeated rate increases. Despite this, I was consistently assured that my belongings were stored in a safe, clean, and secure environment. These assurances were entirely false. When I accessed my unit prior to my move-out on January 16, 2026, I discovered: • Approximately 20 pounds of rat feces • Multiple snake skins from shedding • Extremely filthy and unsanitary conditions • Property belonging to another customer thrown into my unit Even more disturbing, multiple personal items were stolen from my unit, including: • Three televisions • Baby equipment • Numerous electronic devices This constitutes severe negligence and a complete failure to provide the security and cleanliness promised under my rental agreement. Additionally, the on-site manager, Storm, demonstrated a total lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic human compassion. His dismissive and hostile behavior significantly worsened an already traumatic experience. His conduct is unacceptable for anyone representing your company. Had I known the true conditions of this facility, I would never have entrusted Extra Space Storage with my belongings.

I had a great experience with this storage facility! The prices were unbeatable compared to other places I checked, and the customer service was excellent. Storm helped me with my rental—he was friendly, patient, and made the whole process fast and easy. Highly recommend this location if you’re looking for affordable and reliable storage.
