Storage Units Near Me (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
- Search activity: City or ZIP searches and pages visited may be used to operate and improve the service.
- Optional browser location: Exact coordinates are sent to the active nearby-search request and removed from Cubby event telemetry; stored profile data uses no exact latitude or longitude.
- Listing actions: We record clicks to view a listing, visit a facility website, get directions, or start a call. These records include the public facility identifier, page path, button location, time, and a broad referral category (such as search or direct). They do not include destination URLs, search terms, IP addresses, browser identifiers, or a visitor identifier. A click does not tell us whether a call or reservation was completed.
- Cubby guidance and usage records: Cubby uses browser and session identifiers to remember an experience variant and associate interactions. Our own service may store a hashed visitor identifier, session identifier, quiz preferences, approximate location (city or ZIP prefix), size and budget categories, recommendations, and interaction events to improve the guide. Exact coordinates and full ZIP codes are excluded from stored Cubby profiles and event telemetry. These first-party records are separate from optional Google Analytics.
- Browser-saved data: Saved and compared facilities may be stored locally in your browser.
- Optional Google Analytics: If you allow analytics, Google Analytics uses cookies and browser information to measure visits, broad acquisition sources, search steps, saved/compared listings, Cubby interactions, and clicks to contact facilities. We do not send search text, ZIP codes, exact location coordinates, contact details, or Cubby profile answers to Google Analytics. Contact clicks measure intent, not completed calls, reservations, or submitted leads.
- Standard server logs: IP address, user agent, request timing — used for security and performance.
How we use it
We use this information to operate, secure, measure, and improve the site. No affiliate tracking wrapper is currently configured on facility links. If compensated links are added later, they will be identified and the relevant disclosures will be updated. We do not sell your personal data.
Cookies
The site may use essential browser storage to remember interface state and saved facilities. External destinations have their own privacy and cookie practices after you leave this site. Listing-action measurement does not use cookies and is skipped when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals. Google Analytics is loaded only after you choose “Allow analytics”; advertising storage, Google signals, and ad personalization are disabled. You can decline or withdraw consent using “Privacy choices” on any page. Withdrawal stops further analytics collection and removes the site’s Google Analytics cookies; it does not delete data already collected. We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track for Google Analytics as well.
Google processes analytics data under its privacy policy. Your analytics preference is remembered in local browser storage.
Maps and service providers
When an interactive map is displayed, your browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap. That service receives connection information such as your IP address, browser information, and the map area requested. Learn more in the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Hosting, database, and security providers also process information needed to operate this website. Search URLs and browser history may contain your chosen search location.
To show nearby landmarks, our server requests public OpenStreetMap place information from Komoot’s Photon service using rounded search-area coordinates. We do not send your exact browser location, IP address, cookies, or visitor identifiers with these landmark requests. Some facility pages offer optional Mapillary street imagery. The embedded viewer loads only when you select “Explore street view.” Mapillary then receives connection information, including your IP address, browser information, and the selected image. Its viewer is governed by the Mapillary privacy policy. Credited Wikimedia Commons facility photos are served from our website.
Following a facility website, directions link, or phone link connects you directly with that destination. Information you provide there is governed by that organization’s practices. We do not currently collect a storage reservation or lead form on this website.
