Self Storage Plus

We had a good experience so far, mainly thanks to Kerry, the Silver Spring location manager… She’s been GREAT so far. She recently brought to our attention some potential issues we may have with the lock on our unit’s gate. She’s one of the reason we choose “Self Storage Plus”… Kerry has been very helpful, professional and took time to explain things; even when we were still shopping around for the right storage company. The facility (Silver Spring) is well maintained… the building is clean (inside & outside), with a fresh scent (inside)… 5 Stars (so far)… except, just 1 bathroom available ONLY during office hours.

Steer clear of this place. MD's unregulated rate hikes allow owners to act more like thieves if they are morally bankrupt. Note: I recently received an exorbitant 109 increase and received notice of it on 12/16 due by 12/29. My bill was 209.00. It is now 309.00. They say they send their notices out by mail but why not by email, too --- especially if someone is homeless or out of town during the Christmas holiday (This is not rocket science.). Kerry says many people do not have email but what about those who do have email, etc. Note: If you do not pay this increase in 33 days they will place your things on the Internet and auction them off. Clearly, they are not interested in operating in a good faith manner. Moreover, the hallways are not clean, and the facility smells of mold. (Note: On July 6, 2025 all rental facilities must remove mold at their own expense or be fined.) It does not help matters, either that the parking lot smells like urine or something (but why?). Still other say it is rat infested, which should incur a fine as well. Call your elected officials and ask them to address the unregulated rate hikes or even their 20% late fees since their owners are from the UK and are taking advantage of their customers. Remember Biden stopped banks from charging over 30.00 for their late fees, the same thing should apply to these companies.

Rented the unit sight unseen cause it was such a great price. However when I opened the unit it looked like it hadn't been cleaned. There was a red stain not sure if it was food, bodily fluid or what. There were also rat droppings. Its a shame cause the price was so good for the amount of space and there was 2 level of security. I didn't even bother moving any of my stuff in, what a waste of money for a space I didn't even use.
