Friendly staff to work with, when you do need them. It is a storage unit so not a lot of hands-on is required by staff, which shows. The storage unit was clean-ish when I got it. Still required a sweep out by me prior to putting our belongings in it. It looked like our unit had water intrusion at some point after the previous tennant and prior to us, nesessitating the second cleaning from the left over mud/dirt. Because of the prior flooding, we put all our items that were not in plastic totes, on pallets to elevate them. I'd recommend this to any potential renters! There was a price increase this past July (2025), but nothing changed for the customer, other than paying more monthly. There are zero ammenities, not even a single light inside the unit, so other then the probable "market rate" excuse there was no reason for the price increase. It would've been appreciated, especially after the rate increase, if the owners could've brought gravel in and at least leveled out the numerous potholes/craters throughout the parking lot. In the year + that we had a unit there, there had been absolutely zero maintanence for the parking lot other then snow plowing.

Don't purchase protection plan. My storage unit was broken into and because my lock had no damage my claim I submitted via protect plan I purchased from the website when I rented my unit was denied. It's a scam.i asked Star Self Storage who else reported their units burglarize and I was told no one; only mine. I was told they contacted "all renters" and they all replied their units were not burglaries. I asked a few of them & the 4 I asked were not contacted. And they never watching surveillance video claim my unit showed no sign of break in. My property just got up and walked away? And when Sheriff Department obtain surveillance video from Star Self Storage they charged me $90. I didn't request or received but yet these crocks charged me. I had credit on my account which should have been refunded to me. What if I didn't have credit? Would I still been charged.? Find another company to rent your storage unit.

We rented a unit from this facility for a couple years and everything was fine. I mean, it's a storage facility, what can be complicated?? Apparently, it was recently taken over and under new management. Initially, the new management had issues with our autopay setup. Apparently, when the facility was taken over, they lost or didn't receive any of the signed lease agreements from the former owner, so they had no contact info for the tenants. Because of the auto pay snafu, they cut our lock off and AFTER they cut it, that's when they figured out they could Google my name to contact me to figure out what was going on with the auto pay. It takes two seconds to Google my name and find my contact info. I was told it took months to find me. We got that straightened out. They agreed to replace the lock. Shortly after that while picking up an item at the unit I found it to be completely flooded out. I was able to remove damaged boxes and we items during a brief warmup. I informed them of the flooding and didn't receive a response for over a week. When I was contacted, I was told that they would bring in some heaters to thaw the ice so that I could retrieve more items. This never happened. I waited a another week. I was then contacted by another person who offered to help remove some of the items, but I declined because I was out of town and had already decided that I was going to move out of the unit anyhow. I removed what I could the following week (I used pole chisel to break the ice around my items). I left some low value items behind as they were still encased in ice and was not in the mood to work them out. After talking to a couple other tenants that were on site at the time I realized mine was not the only flooded unit. The problem is two fold. First, they don't clear snow and ice in front of the units. Whoever is plowing, makes a pass in order to drive through the lot and that is it. Snow and ice continually build up and dam the units. Secondly, the lot consists of mud and crushed granite. Melting ice and snow result in runoff which erodes the grade that allows drainage. It was just a bad overall experience. After I left, I was informed that they would reimburse my last month's rent for my trouble. That was appreciated, but I lost more items to moisture/freezing than the value of one month's rent. Also, someone did call to see if I wanted the remaining items that I left froze in, but I declined, so I'm assuming they thawed out and trashed them, which I also appreciated. Overall, it just seemed like they didn't care. Coupled with the fact that the grounds are not maintained and I lost items, I wished I would've moved out a year ago. I found a nearly new unit just down the road that is paved, graded, and super clean and DRY. Oh well, lesson learned.
