Turn-Key Storage I

Our storage unit was completely overrun with mice and littered with droppings, chewed items, and nests. Several highly valuable and sentimental items of ours were irreparably damaged as a result. Many of our items were also covered with mold, and most were not salvageable. When we moved out of our unit there was no dumpster (or other trash receptacle) on the premises, and the check-out policy was not posted anywhere; we scoured the premises and the internet and found nothing. (The office was closed.) When I was able to contact the office later on and informed staff about the state of the unit and inquired about rodent control practices, I was passed to the owner, who outright refused to be accountable and made it clear he did not care at all about the damage. I was told that all available rodent control measures had been taken, yet there were none at all in our unit (we were then told this was because they employed these measures after we had moved in to the unit). Cindy was kind and professional, but the owner (Robbie Davis) was stereotypically egotistical, irresponsible, and viciously rude. I've used several different storage facilities in the Carolinas over the last 15 years and have never had an issue with mold or rodents the way we experienced both here, but the worst part was the owner's response and refusal to acknowledge the damage or even attempt to make it right. If you rent here, be prepared for significant damages and do not expect to be treated fairly.

We have mice in our unit and they ruined a mattress. The office said they are not responsible for the damage.
