U-Haul of Merced

Absolutely unacceptable experience. I picked up a U-Haul truck that was completely out of gas, which immediately forced me to pay out of pocket just to use the vehicle I was renting. I was explicitly told that I would be reimbursed if I returned it with fuel, so I did exactly that and dropped it off with more than half a gallon. Despite following their instructions and being assured reimbursement, I never got my money back. Customer service has been unhelpful and dismissive, and the promise made at pickup clearly meant nothing. This feels deceptive and unprofessional. Renting a truck should not start with the customer being forced to cover basic operating costs due to U-Haul’s negligence, nor should it end with broken promises.

The evening before I reserved a trailer online but it would not allow me to reserve it sooner than 1115AM. So the next morning U called the dealership on MLK and they immediately corrected the time and said trailer was available and that I could pick up the trailer immediately. Thanks again UHaul on MLK in Merced.
