I’ve been a client of Regency New York/1st Choice Storage at 1640 State Route 26N, Endicott, NY 13760 for almost 20 years. In those years I’ve seen a slow decline in customer service and facility maintenance. I would guess this would be due to a change in ownership. The blacktop portions of the site are pot-holed or cracked; the gravel portion is uneven, pot-holed, and rutted. The gate has, on occasion, started to close before my vehicle has gotten completely through. More recently, CUSTOMER SERVICE seems to be non-existent. I called to talk with someone about a billing problem, payment due date was one day AFTER invoice date, and no grace period. I was told I should know when the bill is due and pay it even if no invoice was issued. Nothing was said about an electronic payment option. After signing up for the electronic payment option, I could find no way to submit the payment. I called and spoke with Sia, Regional Mgr. about this. Her response was “I’m not a client, I don’t know anything about the website or how to make a payment”; HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE FOR A “SUPPOSED” REGIONAL MGR? I had to give her my information on the phone because the electronic payment system DID NOT WORK. The only thing I kept being told was that “it’s my fault because of my email system”. Also, there is usually no one in the office even on the published days for availability. Although my account was unlocked, IT WAS NOT! I went to the office, which was supposed to be open and manned, but it wasn’t. I called and spoke with Sia and was told everything was OK. I explained the gate would not open. She checked and said it was OK, I could not open it. After several minutes she said she had to recycle the gate codes, then it worked. But then I could not get out of the lot because the gate would not open. Another call to Sia, in Detroit. Again, she said “NOTHING IS WRONG”. It took me 20 minutes to get out. She said she was in Detroit, so much for published office hours. I also had to remind her to email my receipt of payment. Also, the monthly rates have been increased, but no apparent increase in service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORAGE FACILITY. I’m have changed my storage site and would suggest NOT using this facility.
