Location: Extra Space Storage – 12380 SW 8th St. Employee mentioned: Amanda (red hair) I rented a unit at this location and paid my rent in full. From the first day, I experienced unusual and uncomfortable treatment that escalated into access issues. On a Sunday, when the office was closed but tenant gate access was still open (as it is for all tenants), I was inside my unit organizing my belongings. I had a portable power station and solar panels briefly set outside my unit, and the unit door was closed. A staff member named Amanda (red hair) approached me and told me I “couldn’t do that.” This was the first time anyone informed me of such a rule. I immediately complied and stopped once it was brought to my attention and explained that I did not know this was prohibited. Despite my immediate compliance and the fact that my rent was fully paid, I was then told that: My gate access would be restricted to office hours only I could be “kicked out” No written warning or explanation would be provided No specific lease clause or policy would be shown to me What concerns me most is that every other tenant continues to have normal after-hours access, while only my access was blocked, even though I am not in default and corrected the issue immediately. I was never given a warning, written notice, or opportunity to resolve anything formally. When I asked for clarification or documentation, I was told they “didn’t care” and was effectively told to leave if I didn’t like it — while keeping my payment. This experience felt unprofessional, inconsistent, and unfair. If there are rules, they should be clearly communicated, enforced equally, and handled with basic respect — not sudden access restriction and threats after rent is paid. I have since escalated this issue to corporate and am requesting written clarification and restoration of equal access. I hope management addresses this, because no paying customer should be treated this way.
