Menards Self Storage Bay City

moving out next month. they now require a 28 day move out notice despite being able to cancel contract at anytime with written communications by either party. they refused to honor it and want to charge me $80 for another month despite being unable to access my unit due to a 50x30 5ft tall snow pile In front of my unit, been paying for it and i can't get my trailer out due to the snow in the facility. poor customer service at call center they hang up on you. ill take my business to another place. i don't need to pay for a unit i don't want or can't access either. probably will dispute charge with credit card. the walls are 2x4 studs with drywall, if u have an outside unit its just sheet metal that can be cut thru very easily with an angle grinder. while the price is fair and its 24hr access, not worth all this hassle. they don't offer insurance so if you get robbed you're sol. they don't insure it at all. very unhappy. with all the business i do at menards every yr, thousands $$ in purchases, this was something they shouldn't have did. poor service poor design. don't rent there unless you want troubles. also if you don't pay within a few days after first they padlock you right away, disable code access and you can't do anything about it. mine was on auto pay, but they didn't process it and tried to lock me out. i spent 20 minutes with em on phone to fix their issue, and get into my unit that i use for my business. they did waive the late fee they said as a one-time courtesy. you think... anyways don't rent here please.

Someone reviewed that the units have only drywall as a barrier between units, that's not exactly true! I have two units at Menards new Bay City facility and couldn't be more happy! Yes, one of the side walls is drywalled. But the back side of that is O.S.B. with 2 x 4 studs. How would I know that? I have 2 units rented side by side! So, NO, there is not just drywall separating the units. These units are clean, well ventilated and the cheapest around! There is NO security deposit, No processing fee, No upfront insurance fees, etc! Simply the monthly rent, period! And if you get in early enough, the first month is actually FREE! The prices are competitive too! AND the prior units we rented at the other local storage facility had a problem with ventilation and all our stuff got moldy and bees nested in them and water got in under the doors because the weather strip was dry-rotted and some of it was off completely. Some of the doors didn't even shut tight. At Menards, the doors shut tight, the locks slide easily to latch closed AND the manager is ON-Site at Menards! We've even seen him walking the storage lot making sure that everying is ok. AND there are camera's everywhere inside the well secured gated area. It feels completely safe there. It's highly lit up and access is available 24/7. I will never rent storage space anywhere else ever again! This place is the best! Proof is in the rental space! IT's filling up fast!!

Yes, these are very nice units, however, don't be fooled by getting a month free, I have cleared out of my space, left it spotless on November 28th, paid up till the last day of November. I guess in the contract you still owe for the next month even if your done with the space, I need to pay for the month of December. I've been looking for a trailer to store my stuff in, found one and then this happens. Won't be back.
