Peoples Choice Storage Sumter 1

Been at this facility for a long time.... before Peoples Choice took over. Satisfied with the storage unit itself and when the facility has management on site, they are friendly, helpful and professional. Main complaint is that Peoples Storage continues to raise their rates and ask of their customers (insurance, etc.) but has done almost nothing to improve the facility for customers since they bought it. Broken gutter drains, posts knocked down, potholes in gravel roadways, lighting issues, etc. Facility is basically the same as it was when they bought it and they have raised rate a number of times.

Roof leaked and ruined a lot of our property. Most of which were incredibly sentimental and irreplaceable. Black mold grew and made it both uncomfortable and dangerous to clean out!! If I could leave zero stars, I would have! Unfortunately I can't post photos to show the damage. Be VERY CAREFUL about renting here.

This place is the absolute worst. Do not I repeat Do Not give these people your money. They hardly EVER have management on site to help with any issues and the units are filthy, Full of spiders and leaking from water damage. Some of my items that were thankfully sealed in plastic containers had water pooled on top of them from the roof leaking. I was also padlocked out of my unit for an entire month even though I paid my monthly payment. I contacted corporate about this issue and was promised a call back to resolve the issue and never received a call back. I finally had to get a manager from a different location to remove the lock to get access to my unit. When I continued to press the issue the manager began to treat me so rudely as if I had done something wrong. This place should be shut down. I've been a customer here for over a year and have always paid my payment on time. So to be treated in such a way because of their incompetence is infuriating. If I could give 0 stars that would be too much.
