PODS Moving & Storage

Upon first setting everything up with PODS, we were told we could do a payment plan. We were moving from NY to TX and the most cost effective solution was to do a payment plan. When talking to the person who scheduled and set up our account she said not to worry about setting up a payment plan until we had a residence established in TX. When we finally got into our house in TX we called to set up the payment plan, and were extremely disappointed to find out that we were given false information. We have been paying monthly for our stuff to be stored thousands of miles away. They will not honor what they said and are holding our belongings hostage. How can a company not honor what their representative said?! We were adamant that we couldn't afford the $3400 that it costs to ship here. The best they could offer was a lousy discount knowing we still could not pay it. They are not transparent about pricing, fees and the process of drop off, transport and pick up. They do not care about you, they only care about your money. My son has a disability and his medical supplies were put in the POD because we were lied to and told we could set the payment plan up later. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I wish I saw these reviews before.. I’ve been in the process of moving from home to another, that’s 10 minutes apart. I contacted PODs on 6/24 and was told that my POD would be picked up from its current location on July 1st and delivered to the new location as well on July 1st. I asked the representative to send me a confirmation, which she said she would. On 6/25 I hadn’t yet received that confirmation and ended up calling again, just to be told that there were no notes from that conversation but that they confirmed that they saw the time in which I called. They said the date of July 1st was no longer available, but that they would escalate to facilities to see if something could be done. I have called everyday and still getting the running around. My POD will now be moved to their storage facility this weekend, since I need it off my current driveway before closing on it, but being told that my POD won’t be delivered to my new home until the week of the 7th, leaving me without a majority belongings, along with my son’s belongings. I know all calls are recorded and have asked that my call from the night that I was told everything was discussed on 6/24 be reviewed, as this is on the company for providing false information. This not a business that cares about customer service and instead gives you the run around. The amount of stress this has caused, in an already stressful time is completely unprofessional and I would never recommend anyone to use this company for their future moves and instead pay the extra money for actual movers, who know what they are doing.

PODS has to work on their digital platform. Their ability to adjust pickup/dropoff dates and to receive communication from customers is behind the available technology. Plus, they muffed up a change I made well within their 3-day time parameter - arriving a day earlier than the change order. Also, they promised a text the day before Dropoff. That never occurred. They promised a text the day before Pickup. That never occurred. Is the company owned by different people now? We used them 12 yrs ago and they were spot--on and super easy to work with. There has to be a better company out there.
