Upon renting they told me that theft was a rare occurrence. LIES. My internal unit was broken into. The person who broke into my unit, stuck another lock from this facility on my unit, which also had a serial number registered to somebody else. They stole several thousand dollars worth of my goods. The facility would not release the name of the registered owner of the other lock. They told me that they would provide me videos that they had of the day when the theft happened. They didn’t. I called the police. I filed a report. The police department told me that they are out there at least once or twice a month to deal with theft issues, which is completely contrary to what the facility had reported. They have had multiple changes in insurance carriers, staff, etc. I found the organization and they did absolutely nothing about it. They have not responded. They do not respond to emails and any review that’s posted on here gets a standard reply… Check for yourself. This place is filthy. The outside of the facility has other people’s belongings just thrown about. Whatever they don’t want to take with them they just leave there and the facility does nothing to remove them. THEY ARE CROOKS. Do not rent here. Read all of they reviews. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Very shocked and disappointed with this storage facility. I chose this location because I believed it was a safe, secure building when in fact a large scale robbery operation took place here. All tenants received an email saying that there was a security incident with units being robbed and that locks were replaced on units that appeared to be tamered with, but they did not inform the tenants that their specific unit had been affected and they had to find out for themselves. I just returned in town for a visit and checked on my unit, only to find that the code did not work. I was able to get the new code and upon entering my unit I found that it had been vandalized and robbed. I was not aware that my unit had been one of the ones that was affected by the robberies. To date, my understanding is that more than 80 units were robbed, and growing as people return to their units and find that they have been robbed. I do not understand how a robbery operation of this size could have occurred under the noses of management. Clearly, criminals have had free reign in this building to do whatever they please with no security whatsoever. Storage of America: Who committed these robberies? What are you doing about security and cameras? Where are the items that these criminals stole from the victims? Are you FULLY cooperating with police and have you taken IMMEDIATE action to make this place more secure? When will the victims get their stolen property back? You need 24 hour security in this building with cameras down every aisle. You also need to be very clear and upfront with clearly visible language everywhere that the locks that come with the units are not safe and secure and that the round, circular locks should be used, preferably two round locks should be used. This language should be displayed prominently on your website and also on the rental application to be sure that customers are aware of this requirement to keep their goods safe, you should also put a disclaimer on your website immediately and warn people that this location is not safe. Additionally, stop issuing these locks that clearly criminals can disable very easily, you need to issue high security locks for the units. All of the green locks issued with the unit should immediately be replaced with secure locks. These criminals need to be arrested and be made to disclose exactly what items were stolen from each unit and property restored to the rightful owners. Storage of America should assist police in these efforts. Shame on you Storage of America for providing a false sense of security.

Extremely disappointed in this storage company. They are not flexible, not compassionate, and almost impossible to reach when you need help. My father is passing away, and I’ve been driving a long way trying to handle everything, yet I couldn’t get anyone to return my calls or show even a bit of understanding. At a time when compassion and communication matter most, they’ve shown none. I would never recommend this place to anyone. In all of their responses they say, “don’t hesitate to reach out.” THE PROBLEM IS THEY DONT EVER RETURN A CALL.
