ABOX Storage Containers

Mid January, 2025, the exit gate malfunctioned and trapped me inside. I was stuck inside the facility for 3 hours between 10pm and 1am. It was 25° outside during that time, which caused the battery in my car to die and left me without heat. I had not anticipated being exposed to such extreme temperatures and wasn't dressed for it. The facility was aware for over a year that the gate would intermittently fail, but hadn't addressed or repaired the issue. The facility lists an "on-site manager" as an amenity, but there was no manager present. They claim to have 24/7 video surveillance, which should have alerted them to my situation, but they took no action. There are no signs posted with emergency contact info, facility name, or address anywhere on-site, which left me struggling to find the appropriate contact information. I Googled the main number, which led me through a sequence of after-hours maintenance numbers. There was no answer at any of them. I left a voicemail and sent a text message, but did not get a reply. I contacted the police and they made several attempts to reach the facility's management, but were unsuccessful. An officer arrived and tried to open the gate with a police code, but as I've mentioned, the gate was broken, it wasn't a matter of having an access code. He then inspected the gate's mechanism and found it was held together with tape. Despite the officer’s efforts, he was unable to open the gate more than enough to squeeze through on foot. At the time, the ground had been littered with hazardous materials: broken fluorescent bulbs containing mercury, large staples, food waste, and other trash. They finally replaced the broken gate, but for the months between then and now, their solution was to leave it fully open. This gave anyone and everyone access to the unstaffed facility which is set far back and out of sight from the infrequently traveled side street it's located on. Security obviously isn't a priority here. It's now April and they've made no attempt to contact me. I spoke with a lawyer recently who said it's unusual that they wouldn't reach out, especially since police were involved. Ultimately, their negligence created a situation that could have KILLED ME, and they didn't even apologize.u

I'm extremely impressed with the on-site manager. He's amazing! Extremely helpful. Will go out of his way anytime for anyone. Keeps the place really nice and tidy. I'm not really impressed about the parking. They're very particular about your car being invisible. Especially when the parking lot is empty. I got messages from a box saying my car shouldn't be parked out front during business hours. There was a problem with mold on my stuff in the storage unit. Not too happy about that. I'm not very worried about theft or anyone breaking into my unit because I feel the on-site manager is very observant I personally watched him calmly handle a situation where a exboyfriend was getting into his girlfriend's unit to steal her stuff and she came crying and he intervened calmly and the girlfriend's stuff was safe and you could barely tell there was an issue to begin with. Huge metal box for minimal price. Very cold in winter, hotter than an oven in summer. 6am to 10pm are good hours (when the keypad is working). Be careful if you are a female, the owners "hit man/little guy with to much power who doesn't like strong women may decide he doesn't like you and kick you out for some lame reason. The rules are constantly changing (but only for some). Security is no where near what they claim on the website. So if you want a large space to store your stuff for not a lot of money, and you don't mind if it gets moldy or stolen, this is the place for you.
