Gratiot Storage

Buyer Beware! I didn't want to leave a bad review but this new ownership does not respond to phone calls or emails what so ever. I have not had working lighting in my storage unit for over 6 months. I have called every month and all I am ever told is we will let someone know. (answering service). They also claim to be climate controlled but the heat has not worked in the building yet this winter. It is currently 40 degrees inside. Colder than outside! It is no longer cleaned or maintained. Weeds grew taller than me all summer long outside. Garbage litters the halls and out around the dumpster. The dumpster gates fell off a year ago and are still lying there. They provide three carts to haul your belongings which all have broken wheels and are unusable. I have tried in every way to work with these new owners because we have been tenants since the building was built but they ignored my calls for over 6 months now.

It took me sometime to decide to write this review. In the beginning great service. Unfortunately, at the end of journey, my expensive computer, luggage along with clothing inside was RUINED due to a leak in the ceiling of the unit. I informed staff he reached out to the owner. He basically brushed me completely off. No type of offer other than the advice to contact my renters insurance. I'm sorry, I trusted the unit to keep ALL my things DRY. Never expected my things would become DAMAGED with water. They should be ashamed of themselves. No insurance was offered at the time of renting. You should be ashamed of yourself! You could have replaced the items that were damaged. Unbelievable! Yeah, I could have taken you to court but I decided I'll allow karma to handle your business. Even though you weren't required to replace items, you could have at least met me halfway. Do something to make the situation right! Look at these pictures! There is absolutely NO EXCUSE! NONE! I estimated for everything that was damaged, I'm out $2100. Still shaking my head. Hopefully, the owner did not claim damage on my behalf and keep the money. That probably would be a HuGE issue come the near future. What's done in the dark will eventually come to light!
