IN Self Storage - Salem Wallace

We rented a unit recently and the process was a little weird. The email my husband received CLEARLY says to go to the office to provide a copy of his photo ID. We went down there and the staff member on the screen told us the email says to email it, but that she'd be happy to help by taking a photo through the camera. As you can see, the email says to go to the office. The highlighting was on the email when we received it. We went during office hours, around 11:45am. We had no idea this was a non-staffed location, just a small kiosk. Another weird thing was that we did not receive a copy of our rental contract after we signed it. When my husband emailed to ask for one, they asked us why we wanted it. He was sent a copy after explaining, for a second time, why we wanted it. That has raised some red flags for us. Any time a contract is signed, all parties should immediately receive a copy, not have to provide acceptable justification to receive it. Something else we didn't like was the smell in the kiosk. It definitely smells like people have been smoking cigarettes and marijuana in there. A LOT of it. I'm allergic to cigarettes, so being in there made me sick. Aside from that, the process to rent was smooth. The unit was clean with no bugs or pests, completely ready for us to move in. There's a lightbulb in there, but the light doesn't work. We thought the bulb there was dead, so we took a new bulb, but it still didn’t work. We tried both bulbs at home and they work just fine, so it appears there's no power to the units. Or, just our unit? Not a deal breaker, we were just excited to have a light and then disappointed that it doesn't work.

I really got lucky when I rented a storage unit at Self Storage in West Salem. They have been so kind and helpful since I rented a unit. I would never consider renting any place else they're very kind maintain the property in a safe place to store your possessions. I feel blessed to be at self storage.

Price good. Hard to get in and out especially during busy times. i originally commented on spiders/big problem in unit and lack of onsite help available BUT I did not contact them before posting that. Which wasn't fair on my part. They were extremely attentive and proactive trying resolve issues. So great customer service!!
