Storage Rentals of America (SROA) is very clean and well lit. However, beware of the rental increases that occur frequently and without warning. They are not regularly scheduled and amount can vary wildly. You are at their mercy because it is not easy to move your belongings if you have more than a very few items, and I am certain that comes into play with their increases. On the positive side, the property manager at the Southfield location (Jeanette) is a very helpful, courteous and pleasant person. She is one of the better aspects of this storage unit. Overall, I would be reluctant to use a storage unit for more than a short period of time.

I had a great experience getting a family members paperwork straightened out. Jeannette was very professional, offered great options, and explained everything thoroughly. We left with our access code and keys. 🔑

Location: Southfield, MI UPDATE 11/30/25: New monthly "adjustment" can only be for 2-3 months max per District Mgr & rates usually increase quarterly (?) based on market rental rates! Still unacceptable! My rating only increases to a 2-star for that reason... $40+ increase is gouging!! UPDATE 11/18/25: SHAME ON YOU SROA-SOUTHFIELD AND/OR CORPORATE OFFICE!! You hike the monthly cost up $40+ just after 5-6 months of being a new customer?! This exorbitant increase is simply DISGUSTING GOUGING & UNACCEPTABLE!! I don't recall my monthly rate being a promo rate, so I MAY change my review & stand corrected. Until this GOUGING is made right by a new customer, my review stands as is!! UPDATE 6/19/25: District Mgr. reached out & provided valid explanations for my concerns (#1 & #2). He, their corporate office rep 6/18, & location manager 6/19 kindly reminded me that the location is closed on Wednesdays. 😲 Therefore, my issue #3 was actually resolved next day Tuesday, but wasn't communicated to me. Hey it happens, daily work load can be hectic... no foul no harm. 🙂 Well, check-in day (6/16/25) was red flag #3 for me. Placed lock in the open/close chamber & the pull lever/tab broke clean off! Unit not available to use 1st day! Red flag #1 was being informed that the 'Out' gate has been broken (for awhile??), therefore random vehicles can drive right in wrong way, only identifiable by cameras?? Red flag #2 was being informed that only 1 rear load/unload overhead door was inoperable (for awhile??), therefore you may need to wait your turn to occupy the 1 open (inside) area or use the front, uncovered area?? I'm hopeful these issues are getting resolved asap! Thus far as a new customer, I am not impressed nor pleased!
