U.S. Self-Storage Public Asking-Rate Index

Within each evidence-qualified geography, the facility-weighted constant-quality change in recurring, publicly advertised online monthly rent among matched, currently available unit configurations observed at covered, identity-verified U.S. self-storage facilities. The program is indexable and its methods are public, but no Storage Units Near Me numeric price series has been released. The connected production legacy tables currently contain zero observed unit-rate records, and the separate append-only public-research schema was not installed at audit time. Fixed internal budget bands are prohibited from entering this research series.

Research pipeline

From a public quote to a citable index observation

STEP 01

Collect public asking rates

Fetch explicitly allowlisted, robots-permitted public facility pages for validation; require a separate approved source-rights record before research ingestion.

STEP 02

Validate the product

Require a USD price tied to exact dimensions and retain climate, access, floor, availability, promotion, fee, and parser evidence.

STEP 03

Deduplicate and weight

Match the same physical facility and unit across sources, aggregate within facilities, and prevent operators with more listings from dominating.

STEP 04

Estimate with uncertainty

Chain matched-product log price relatives and bootstrap complete facility trajectories for confidence intervals. Any later composition-adjusted sensitivity model must be separately implemented, validated, and named in its release manifest.

STEP 05

Release or suppress

Publish only geographies that pass sample, diversity, matched-panel, missingness, concentration, and precision gates.

BLS gross-rent benchmark retained separately

Federal series WPU431104 contains 210 cached monthly observations. It measures producer gross rents, not the advertised new-customer web rent targeted here, so divergence is analyzed rather than hidden.

Why no modeled number appears here

The prior price pages expanded twelve fixed jurisdiction bands and one national fallback across thousands of city labels. Those values were useful only as internal planning assumptions. Repetition, statistical language, or structured data cannot make them observed market evidence, so they are excluded from this research program.
